Where do I adapt an external oil cooler to the 4bd2 engine? The 3500hd Chevy truck that I'm using has a real nice cooler already installed. I see that the motor already has one on the block, is an external cooler necessary or beneficial ? I will be using the truck quite hard at times, and will use pto power for hours at a time without the truck moving. (hydraulic concrete wall saw 40hp)

I doubt you'll need an external cooler, if you can keep coolant temps under control the oil will be fine too.

But if you did want to hook one up, you'd be looking at the line that goes from the distribuation block at the back of the oil cooler (where the turbo oil feed comes from), to the oil filters. Take that off and Tee into it there.
