Change Throttle Arm Spring.....HOW ?

The spring (red arrow) on the throttle arm is worn and needs replacement. The Throttle Arm is retained with a Allen Head cap screw. However, the Cummins Shop Manual says not to remove the control arm. How do you remove the top throttle arm to replace the spring without screwing up the IP settings ?

Thanks
Paul

The shaft should be splined. You remove the bolt and scribe a reference mark on the lever and shaft. It's also a good idea to take a picture of it before you take it apart. There are a couple of internet sites that explain how it's done. I'll see if I can find a link....Ok -

That is the "Breakover Spring". The spring rest is likely worn too. You can braze up that spring rest pin area to save some money if you like, a few minutes with a file and it will look like new. If I recall correctly that throttle arm bracket is over $75.
