Hey folks,

I got a dilemma. I recently picked up a 95 Dodge 1 ton Cummins with an Nv4500 2WD. I am going to use this setup for my 4wd 4l80E Chevy repower. So far, the plan is swap the main shaft, rebuild the trans at the same time (and fix 5th gear), and put a 4wd tail housing on it. I figure I should be able to do this for around 500-600 dollars, labor done by me. Only thing I cant seem to find is what main shaft to use, a Dodge or Chevy, for the BW 4401 case in my Chevy now. I figured I would use the Chevy tailhousing to bolt to the BW. Has anyone done this or who would know?

Also, does anyone know if ebay kits are any good? My NV has started whining pretty bad at 40-50+ in 4th or 5th gear, so I'm assuming a few of the bearings are probably bad.

This is the first time I've ever really played with all these parts, so I'm still learning what shaft can slide into what hole ;)
Thanks!

the bw4401 should be a 32 spline gm input...you need to use the chev mainshaft.the output housing on either the dodge or gm 4500's have the same round bolt pattern.you should be able to use either output housing.the gm one should have the mounts for the shifter, which will line up with the 4401 shift arm...

the only issues i can see are that the output housings have some internal differences, which may cause some issues with the stickout length of the main shaft, versus the input shaft length of the 4401...the gm one is more open inside,iirc...
