hey guys looking for some help. My tow rig i just built is having serious heating issues. Its the monster tow rig build. this is what i've got. 97 12v 210hp #10 plate, 4000 gov springs and vavles springs. 90hp injectors. super b special turbo. i checked the timing. it around 17 degrees. basically the egts are at 1200 before the turbo really starts to spool. and as soon as it fits 25-30 pounds of boost egts are . i've tried slideing the plate toward the fire wall. but then it wouldn't hardly spoon, so then i slide it back towards the grill and it spoons but the egts are threw the roof. whatcha think to much fuel and turbo. or is there somthing wrong. also i rebuilt the motor, rings and bearings, head gasket.

I have two trucks with pretty much the same set up 8000# empty, plenty of fuel and hx 40 turbo (I think is the same as super b) spools as fast as you push down the pedel, when i first installed everything the boost was over 45 psi and had to adjust the boost elbow screw to get it down some, you might try that to raise it a little

thats kind of what i thought, but i've had a few guys say that moch fuel should work with that turbo. it also seems like my motor revs slower than others, at idle when i rev it up it will spuder some.

put a 74 or 75mm S400 under the super b. EGT problem solved!!! Now seriously, I think I've read over on the cummins forum that the super b's tend to be a bit hotter then other comparably sized turbos, especially when towing. Isn't it a 65mm comp wheel?? Now, me personally, I don't think I would want to tow with a single turbo that's bigger then 62mm. Seems like the trucks get really fussy when your running more fuel for a bigger turbo and try to tow with em.

Your problem is the Super B "special" The special was built for single turbo truck pulling comp. It needs huge amounts of fuel Oringed heads ext. For pulling loads on the hwy. You need a plain old Super B. I run one on my Dodge duelly with the fuel set at 400 hp at the rear wheels. When loaded up my truck weighs close to 16,000 lbs. And nothing but the really long hills in high gear will get the EGT up much more than 1150. And for pulling I would set the timing back to 15.5 deg. With it set at 17 deg. with the fuel and turbo you are using You are asking for a blown head gasket. Hope this helps Bill
