I need to know what parts to use with a 500 hp cummins 4bt p7100 , if i use a 4L80E trans do i need a torch converter if i change the cam and upgrade the turbo to a 6bt, what gear ration do i want with drag tires on a 15' or 16' wheel?

What you will need is a heck of a lot of money. Short list includes a customized P7100, injectors, custom pistons, performance cam, twin turbos, 14mm head studs, bottom girdle and studs, fire ringed head, and a bunch of other premium tidbits. Also, a whole lot of luck. Engines in that power level probably live for hours, not years. You're build in a drag racing engine, not a normal street engine.

The VE 4BT in my truck would be a low 12 second ride in any mussel car..........once you could get it to hookup off the line and stopped :nuke: drive line components;)

That's about what I have into my build, I agree with above posts though, a lot of people don't realize how 500hp or even 300 hp feels in a smaller vehicle. Also the belief that power is cheap and easy expecting longevity. Every engine I build is built to last at the rated power for a reasonable amount of time and no corners cut

That's sort of strange. My first Ford F250 diesel only had 160 HP and the current one is 180 HP. I've run them across the country from Wyoming to North Carolina with a max load with no problem. Of course I wasn't pulling sleds or drag racing. If you're building a super high performance engine just to do it that's one thing, but for practical everyday use it doesn't cut it.

My 4BT at an honest 200HP when properly geared would comfortably do any task that a truck running on 4 "E" rated tires CGVW would allow...$.02

The wife and I had been kicking around the idea of a 4BT in a mid/late '60 Ford Galaxie should we ever find the right car.
The Galaxie's were a big block car with a a full frame so the Cummins would not be a burden in it so could make a nice ride, I have crunched the #'s with a 4BT/T56 and om paper at least the double OD 6 speed shows potential to be a beast out of the hole and still be in the 4BT's sweet spot at 75 or 85 depending on which ratio T56 you choose leaving you plenty of RPM for a "back door charge' through the lights.

If Joshua is seriously interested in a high hp build. This isn’t the place to ask questions about it. Most people here are worried about fuel mileage or telling people to use the search function. I asked some questions about higher hp stuff. Got comments like you should weld two engines together. My best recommendation is ask questions somewhere else. Your answers aren’t on this site.

Maybe take a look at some of the posts by member khaoskustoms and his horsepower/torque build threads. His builds were not cheap and longevity seems to be an issue. Also note that this thread is five years old since post #1 was submitted.
