rat rod buggy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have started a buggy project for one of my customers. His original plan was to build a rat rod. Got him self a 4bt cummins and it went down hill from there. After many ideas and input from friends some how he decided to buy a jeep. Don't ask me how a rat rod project turned into buying a jeep, but it did. Originaly the plan was to install the cummins do a 4" lift kit, a set of tires along with some axles (dana44 9") and call it good. Well after riding in my buggy and lots of talking this is where we are at.

parts list.

4bt cummins
th400 tranny, np205
clark hurth planataries
king coil coilovers
balistic joints
ect.

keep your eyes peeled this is going to happen fast.

Tim Vice stitches and 4x4.

sick, I love the chopped look on the cage, I may be taking that idea and running with my project! haha. probably not but i still love it. I would definately think of running some sort of structual/protective roof since its going to be so short. how close is the cage top when there is someone sitting in the seats?
I would be afraid of not being able to see over the hood at that seat hieght and everything. guess that depends what you plan to use for a hood if any. keep up the good work and take tons of pictures thats a cool project!
what size kings are you using?

The are Dana Corp axles with Clark Hurth Planetaries 19 to 1 final gear ratio, 3.625 in the pumkin / 5.25 in the planetaries.

The 278/190 (Rear Designation) had Hydraulic lockers and Oil Immersed brakes aswell as a lever actuated parking brake on each side that could possibly be used for cutting brakes.

They also have intigrated steering cylinders and the abbility to turn up to 54*

They use M18x1.5x65mm studs 8 on 275mm BCD.

The 278/186 (front designation) are almost Identical but come with a limited slip.

there is also a 278/188 and a 278/192 and final gear ratios very depending upon what equipment they were designated for.

Simply put they are bad ass and I would love to build a two seater with them and 47-54" plus size tires.
