Finally brought the 4 out of storage and into the new shop and introduced it to it's new home... will bolt up the 47rh in the next week... looks like I will need to fab up a new trans x-member as the stock fsj even at 2nd set of frame holes is about 1in to far forward, but we'll see... however preliminary measurements on engine placement looks very good... plenty of room on both sides...

Nice Project! 47rh is the best choice. Install a TFOD Transgo and set pressure to 110psi. Transgo kit allows the converter to lock in second gear. Using a "Mystery Switch" and a few adjustable pressure switches on OD and CL. Launch first in semi shush, let it shift to second then hit that "Mystery Switch" and all that low end torque gets applied to the road from there out. Lots of fun.

Restored a waggy a few years ago. It was hard backing up with those small mirrors.

thanks for tips... I have a new transgo kit, not installed, as the 47rh I'm using has been rebuilt and the po said it was a performance rebuild with billet input and upgraded planetary, tc and vb, so I will just wait to see how performs... I'm familiar with the rh, I have one in my 95 12v 4x4, which has been helpful for taking measurements and such...

I'm using the engine mount frame holes and the 2nd set of crossmember frame holes for my 89 Wagoneer, 4BT and 46RH. I know that the 47RH is about an inch longer but you should be able to elongate the holes on the crossmember and make it fit. I have about 6 inches from the rear of the cylinder head to the firewall and have plenty of room up front for the mechanical fan, radiator, CAC and AC condenser.

Thanks, I will know more once I get it in the wag... if I use the stock dodge 47rh trans mount and the stock rubber isolator it might put me up to high, since I'm installing 4in lift springs and doing a front shackle reverse, so may end up needing a dropped trans x-member after all or a t-case clocking ring .. fun challenges for sure...

The 4 is in...!!! sitting pretty much where I need it about 3 degrees down angle to pinion, using the stock second gen 4x4 trans mount bracket and rubber isolator with the trans x-member in the back set of holes and the mount holes line up perfectly front to back, however it raises the tail shaft to much and reduces the t-case clearance and the down angle to 2 degrees... so a little more head scratching and probably a custom trans x-member... before I finalize the motor mounts...

I just finished the motor mounts and hanging the 4 in the wag... also added the new top center mount exh manifold, and it fits great will clear the hood fine, will install a aluminum heat shield under the hood with pressed rock wool sandwiched in between the shield and hood... tomorrow I will start on a custom x-member-trans mount for the 47rh...

Wow, has it really been 10 months since I last posted on this thread...??? just a short update; finished up the front dress with the install of the 6.7 balancer, one wire alt, (self modified) 2nd gen fan hub (no fan, going electric) and the 4th gen ram a/c compressor which has side ports at the 10 o'clock pos... the hx30 super and custom oil drain are installed as is the turbo down, one hiccup to overcome is the custom trans crossmember I built, it will have to be redesigned as it prohibits the use of the 2nd gen dodge t-case shifter that bolts to the side of the 47rh trans :mad: the good news is the shifter fits great in the cabin and clears everything, column shifter and linkage is in and working great... next is on to finish installing the HB system and reinstalling the rad core support so I can mount the 1st gen IC and charge piping...😁

I really like a top mount turbo also, makes for easier plumbing in and out and looks better also imo, I used a conduit bender and reshaped the tube a little so that it follows the shape of the trans bell and then made a bracket to hold in pos, the turbodown pipe is kicked out about 15* so plenty of room there, tube is about 3" away from downpipe, I may slip in a heat shield if needed, I plan on also making a heat shield over the turbine just to protect the hood...

Finished up the t-case shifter today, I ended up using a floor mount shifter from a 2001 dodge 2500 gasser that I bought last year from the pic-a-part for $25 and not the 2nd gen trans mount shifter for a 47rh, that I had on a spare 47rh-241dld in my shop, the floor mount works great and is now operational, using this shifter saved me from having to build another custom trans crossmember as the trans mounted shifter had clearance issues with my current x-member, so I am very happy about that...!!! I hope everyone has a great weekend, it's looking like a cooldown for az country...!!!

Finally finished installing the rear main 25 gal fuel tank, this is a tank built by rhodes race tanks, I had to modify the inlet, by removing the bolt on quick fill cap and flange and fabricating a new plate and 90* 1.25" fill neck and 3/4" vent and hose over to the existing stock fill assembly, that was also modified by removing unleaded gas restrictor and flap... the tank comes with four -8an male welded in fittings, two which are capped off a one for the sump feed and one for the return...

Finished the throttle-throttle cable assembly, (looks like a mouse trap) works good untested, we'll see once I get this build otr... thinking I might need to add a tps if I go with the compushift mini controller, still unsure on that at the moment, the mini requires a vss, which I can pull from the t-case, but then I also need a way to feed the mechanical speedo... more head scratching... :unsure:

I haven't used this pass through pulse generator, I shows up on several websites.

I am using driveshaft magnets for both my digital speedometers (and the output pulses also control my cruise controls).

I have one of those also, it's used inline for the factory cc, not sure what I will be using for the cc, possibly a rostra cc unit...

Got a few more things done since my last post; the rear under body battery mount is pretty much done except for the box door, which is cut, I just have to find the ss hinges I bought from HD and promptly forgot were I put them (ugh)... front 1st gen cac and piping is in as well as the rad, and 2nd gen breather box, which was a little bit of a challenge, but I'm happy with the results and it features a cold air induction shroud, which should help prevent heat soak for the box... next up will be plumbing the HB unit and PS box...

Thought you might be interested in the following.
I noticed you are, using a 90 degree fuel fitting at your lift pump. There is great information as it relates to hard 90 degree fuel fittings limiting actual performance of the lift pump.
Attached is the article, however, I have found for hard 90 degree, in tight places a Banjo fitting fixes that too.
I not only did this, for my fueling system, I did it with transmission cooling lines too.

Interesting read for sure, I will likely look at this further if I have a fuel starvation issue, I won't know until I get the wag otr and do some real world testing... I do have in my collection of fittings a -6an 90 sweep that be used but I would need to switch from the gates 3/8id barrier fuel hose to braided ptfe which from what I read can collapse the ptfe liner if used in a suction situation, unless you use the fuel class braided hose... I do like the gates barrier fuel hose, pretty much available anywhere, which helps in a repair situation, maybe I'll search for a brass sweep 90 or make one...

I used SS Braided PTFE for every line in my build, no issues no matter the medium, pressure or location.

Something I read recently about using braided ptfe for fuel feed, I never heard this before, and I use -8 braided ptfe for the trans cooler lines also... I have enough -6 hose and fittings to run a new line with sweep 90's on the tank and pump, I likely change it sometime or save it for the w250 build that's getting the 230hp 6bt... nice thing about swaps is that you usually have plenty of left overs for the next build...
